The Reid Concert Hall was built in 1859 to serve the University of Edinburgh's School of Music, and fifty-odd years later, the musician and educator Donald Tovey was conducting a legendary series of concerts here, the programme notes for which he later adapted into his still-classic Essays in Musical Analysis.

The hall is still used by the University for lectures and rehearsals, as well as public concerts, and the studio downstairs is equipped to record performances.

The Hallé Youth Choir comes fresh from the first Night of the Proms at the Royal Albert Hall in London. They were unforgettable in a performance of Vaughan Williams' Sea Symphony - glorious concert hall-filling music. The more intimate songs by Schubert and Britten will be perfect for this weekend of fine Scottish Summer evenings in appropriately atmospheric settings, Paisley Abbey, Reid Hall Edinburgh and St Andrews Glasgow. You really will be touched by the beauty of their singing. Please do see them this weekend! They are also revisiting the Proms on 25th August for Wagner's Parsifal - so they are highly in demand as some of the country finest young singers.
