Best kids shows to see at Pleasance, Summerhall and ZOO

31 Jul 2018

Highlights include MamaBabaMe, Duckie and Stoel

Although the Fringe can seem like it's a bit of an adult's only playground, there are also plenty of shows aimed at kids hiding beneath the swearwords and risqué cabaret. Edinburgh's Southside venues, Pleasance, Summerhall and ZOO, have an especially...

Potentially brilliant kids musical is undone by a thoughtless production

There are great songs and a pretty decent basic concept to AnimAlphabet the Musical – and Hit the Mark Theatre has a pretty talented bunch of singers with which to deliver it.

Fantastic show! My daughters loved it especially my 5 year old who keeps singing the songs. Great family show as it's not too long. We saw it twice as the kids really enjoyed it.

If I could score this show a 6 I would. My kids absolutely love it. My wife took my 7 and 2 year old to an early showing of it and they loved it so much we went again to another one and took my 10 year old.

Weeks later all three are still singing the songs which are catchy and amusing, and there are plenty of little quips in the script aimed to keep the adults smiling as well.

Fantastic cast, fantastic story, fantastic songs, just a fantastic show.

Go and see it if you can, you won't regret it.

Fantastic show, really catchy tunes that the whole family will be singing for days. The story is well structured and there are musical lessons hidden in there for the children. Really enjoyed it as did our son.

Animalphabet is such a brilliantly entertaining musical don't miss the opportunity to see it. My 5 year old can't stop talking about the characters and wants to learn ALL the words to ALL the songs. My 18m old loves dancing to the music. And their grown up may occasionally listen to the CD in the car... Fantastic show with such clever humour and a really talented cast.

Excellent music, real sing alongs that stick with you after the show. Enjoyed by all the family, short enough to feel easy with little ones. Great voices from the cast.

Great show, very catchy songs and a good story with lots of laughs. Not just for kids, the grown ups in the audience were enjoying it just as much. Go and see it!
