Transfer Productions UK

Considered one of the best musicals of this century the Tony Award-winning show Spring Awakening, featuring an electrifying folk rock score, is brought to life in a bold new staging by leading West End/International creatives and a cast of fresh graduates from Mountview, a leading drama school. Based on Frank Wedekind’s play of the same name this piece explores a group of young people coming to terms with their own voices and sexuality. In an oppressive society they discover first love and face the bitter realisation of the harsh realties encountered in a more adult life.

Some scenes of a traumatic nature including adult themes, partial nudity, swearing and violence.

An amazing performance. I’ve always loved the SA soundtrack and have never seen it staged. It was everything I could have wished for. Well worth the ticket price and beyond. Go and see it!! I feel bad for the cast because I spent a good chunk of the performance in tears - the stellar acting performances coupled with the intimacy of the venue was too much for me. There were tiny imperfections here and there, but the sheer energy and commitment of the cast made up for it tenfold. Beautiful staging and excellent casting, especially in the leads (I’d have loved to have heard Moritz’ pain come out more through his singing voice, as well as his acting, as his singing was great). I can only say a massive thank you to everyone involved for letting me come out with such a cathartic feeling. (Also I want to hear “The Dark I Know Well” as an encore!! It was my greatest regret to find it cut)

My wife and I were very moved by the powerful performance of the young cast. My wife and I laughed and my wife cried, we were left contemplating the ups and downs of life, and looked back o on our passage to adulthood, societal norms of our time were not that far from the norms of the times when the original play was written. How times move on here in our country, food for thought for the youngsters of today. Well done to the cast for all their hard work and a brilliant performance. Outstanding.
