Edinburgh Little Theatre

Students Peter and Jason meet and fall in love at a Catholic boarding school but everything is conducted in secret and hidden behind lies. What will happen to the star-crossed lovers? A moving musical about forbidden love. Jason is the golden boy of the college and can't live with the fact he is gay, while Peter wants to go public with their love. Jason tried to fight his urges as he strives to be what everyone wants him to be… but he can't please everyone. A touching musical about love, which asks many questions of acceptable love. Fantastic show.

Set was minimalistic which was nice as it didnt take focus away from the performers however would have been nice to see them utilise the space more. Vocally, it was outstanding! Its a demanding show at times and they did extremely well to deliver. Occasionally the harmonies would give me chills. There are two performers that really stood out for me, the actors who played Ivy and Nadia - WOW! There was clear thoughts behind everything they did, you could really empathise with them. For me the biggest down fall for the show is the 2hour run time with no interval - this came as a surprise to me and my friends. I was happy with the show overall, some lovely moments between Peter and his mother and the performers as a whole do an incredible job of finding the comedy in moments when everything is falling apart for these characters. Superb attempt at an incredibly complex show!
