Miranda Kane's warmly and enthusiasticly introduces us to the world of escorts
Whatever else this show is, it's certainly uniquely interesting. Since Belle De Jour's revelations about the sex industry, stories of escorts have piqued the interest of both sexes. The room is full and (presumably) not for titillation purposes – though Miranda Kane may find herself with some post-show offers. But you don't often get the chance to spend an hour with a prostitute for just a few quid donation and have a cosy chat.
For any wannabe escorts you'll find all the information you'd ever need here. Miranda Kane got into it having moved from the small seaside town she grew up in to London and feeling lonely began to internet date. Then on discovering that men liked her 25 stone body more than she did, she decided to get paid for the casual sex she had been having.
Kane is an thoroughly engaging raconteur and exuberant host. Though now apparently retired, her warmth, enthusiasm and open minded attitude towards her subject is such that you can see why she was so popular with the punters. Pays better than journalism too.
Dram House Upstairs, 226 0000, until 24 Aug, 2.15pm, free.
