Lovable Irish cheeky chappie trio
Sketch trio Sean Finegan (Foil), Conor McKenna (Arms) and Sean Flanagan (Hog) have made a decent name for themselves in their native Ireland. And it’s easy to see why: their hyperactive knockabout comedy is an hour of solid entertainment with a decent laugh ratio but at the same time it’s also fairly safe and slightly old fashioned.
The nature of sketch shows means invariably some skits are more successful than others (such as the freaky ‘net heads’ or the ‘You’re A Prick’ gameshow) while unfortunately a couple outstay their welcome (a period drama parody for example). There are some great ideas at play but if there were more, shorter sketches it would mean a tighter overall show.
What they really have in their favour is the likeability factor. It’s something they have in spades even when some of the jokes fall flat you’ll still think they’re lovable cheeky chappies. The off script adlibs and random asides, the improv sections and gentle audience interaction (don’t worry, nothing too scary) provide the funniest moments of the night.
