Tanyalee Davis – Big Trouble in Little 'Gina

Canadian comic Davis offers up a frank discussion of her downstairs lady area and the medical problems it has created for her over the last year. Her gynaecological misadventures took her to three continents, and we're taken right along with her, exposed to every gory detail, often with visual aids. Mixed in with the hospital stays are plenty of observations about her family, her love life and that majestic creature, the manatee.

A stalwart of the UK comedy scene, Davis has been touring over here for years and knows how to win over a crowd. Those in the audience who meet her first mention of female health issues with a stony silence grow to appreciate her wide-ranging selection of euphemisms for genitalia.

It takes skill to repeatedly find the funny in a series of unfortunate events. In recounting issues that would fell a lesser woman, Davis' over-riding message is positivity. It's a seductive quality and one that smooths over any rough patches in her material making an hour in her company a very enjoyable experience.
