Mikey Avern: Absurd Projections

Fast-paced educational hour with a strong poltical set

A fast paced educational hour where Mikey shares his political views, focusing mainly on the state of financially impaired modern day Britain and what the future holds for us. Unfortunately, his quick delivery meant it was easy to miss parts. Avern is like a passionate and slightly nutty Professor giving a lecture with the help of his trusty PowerPoint presentation featuring some intentionally naf slides.

While you may not agree with everything he says, for the most part his observations are pretty bang on. He takes us back to 2008 before the recession, “a much simpler time,” when “Double Dips were just a sweet,” then looks at how far we have come since (not). Also, in case there is any confusion over what a turd geyser looks like, please allow Mikey to enlighten you with a rather graphic illustration.

Private Eye reading, UKIP hating people will enjoy this but probably won’t appeal to those with no interest in current affairs or politics. Absurd Projections is original and has clearly had a lot of thought and effort put into it.

Just the Tonic at Bristo Square, 556 5375, until 17 Aug (not 13), 9.30pm, £4–£5.
