Wil Hodgson: Kidnapped by Catwoman

A personal history of sexual turn ons

With The Dark Knight Rises ruling the box office this summer, Wil Hodgson has chosen a timely crush for the title of his new confessional comedy show on kinks, turn-ons and fantasies. As it turns out, he’s more interested in the 60s Adam West-era feline femme fatale than Anne Hathaway’s recent turn.

There’s something eminently likable about this former punk rocker, self-confessed geek and ‘wannabe lesbian’ as he lets us peek into his psyche and how a pre-internet mix of comics and Carry On shaped his sexual peccadilloes. Even with this theme, the structure is very loose with a ramshackle Power Point presentation to emphasis some of the key moments in pop culture (think Hattie Jakes, Wonder Woman and the Pink Ladies) that made him the man he is today.

When most comedians look at their watch during a show they are desperately padding their material to fill the allotted time slot but for Hodgson it feels like he’s trying to cram as much in before they drag him off. While constantly amusing big laughs are rare, the level of honesty will have you hooked.
