Idil Sukan
Funny Women finalist in career regression
Straight off the bat, the eminently likeable Tania Edwards insists that this is going to be her year. It’s ‘break or breakdown’ time. Unfortunately, several things could be conspiring against her as she moves ahead with her grand plans (which may have stalled since being a Funny Women finalist back in 2009). For one thing, she has not been dealt an especially lucky hand by having such a late-night slot given that her show about killer instincts is so severely underpowered. Having a lacklustre Fringe hour, though, isn’t so much the result of a conspiracy but the inevitable end result of not having a great show to hand.
In case you were wondering, she doesn’t really have those killer instincts, which is why the story about whether she will kill a feline to further her career fizzles out. And, more worryingly, it could be the reason that her life in stand-up might not be going to the places she wishes it would.
