Secluded librarian seeks answers

comments

This article is from 2007.

A monologue based on the Jorge Luis Borges short story ‘The Library of Babel’, Babble focuses on a secluded librarian’s (Jonathan Clarkson) quest for the answers to all life’s puzzles in his stacks of books. Though the fundamental ideas behind the play are interesting, the script itself fails to find a voice beyond the melodramatic and Clarkson’s performance, while at points arresting, cannot compensate for such unremarkable material. Monologue based on the Borges short story 'The Library of Babel', focusing on a secluded librarian's quest for the answers to life's puzzles in his stacks of books. An interesting idea but with a script that struggles to find its voice. 'Part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2007'.
