Des Clarke (3 stars)

This article is from 2007.

Glaswegian Clarke’s stand-up is far less grating and nippy than his work as a kids TV presenter. Catering for out-of-towners and locals with an enjoyable tour around Scottish clichés, his gags on Burberry, Buckfast, Irn Bru and dour, workshy penny-pinchers may not set the heather alight, but his rapid delivery keeps things fresh and energetic. Surreal impressions of Kermit the Frog and George Galloway are a bonus too.

Pleasance Courtyard, 556 6550, until 27 Aug (not 15), 9.20pm, £11.50–£12.50 (£10–£11).
