To mark the 60th outing of the EIFF, audiences will be treated to this sparkling new print of Carol Reed’s 1947 (yes, perplexing we know) classic. Sneaky, dark, compelling and one of the very best British films made in the 1940’s - Reed’s film follows the downwardly spiralling fortunes of James Mason’s IRA man on the run (following a botched hold up) in the ration book-strapped capital.
