Adrian Poynton - The New Rock'n'Roll

  • 17 August 2006

This article is from 2006.

The essence of this show, Adrian underlines, is that he’s rubbish. Rubbish at being cool, that is - not at being funny - and I guess I’d have to agree. Whether it’s saying the wrong thing at a funeral, throwing a TV out the window or playing with your friend’s sanity, he manages to keep the audience entertained in his first ever stand-up show. While he has a likeable persona and is a good storyteller, the show doesn’t pack quite the editorial punch as his play about Graham Chapman, A Very Naughty Boy, which won a Fringe First in 2004.
