Love Labours Won
This article is from 2006.
This premiere is going to transfer to the West End and then Off-Broadway, and has all of the professionalism you would expect of it: acting and visuals, particularly costumes, are all equally strong. It is written is Shakespearian-style rhyming couplets which, though witty, are sometimes rather preachy and may tempt you to play spot-the-non-deliberate-anachronism. Similarly, though it boasts at least one very moving speech and a number of clever Shakespearian references, the plot failed to deliver many belly laughs or deeply emotional moments. Worth a look for the great performances, though. (Issy McCann)
