Reverend Obadiah Steppenwolfe III
This article is from 2006.
The Reverend drifted among us in loose white robes, dishevelled hair (piece) and shades, looking like Jesus had he turned to drink. The Yankee evangelical has been bashing his own version of the bible for a number of years now and this time around he’s chosen to take fellow good time boy Charlie Sheen as his inspiration and guiding light; unsurprising then that the show largely concerns prostitutes, alcohol and drugs.
There are the usual Steppenwolfian philosophies to be found here as he attempts to lead the pretty girls and boys of the audience astray and issues forth with his near the knuckle musings such as the nature of African porn. His turn of phrase is magical and punchlines often leap from nowhere, in once instance comparing Jesus to Sam from Quantum Leap. Hallelujah! (Marissa Burgess)
