Ian Shaw Sings Joni Mitchell

Ian Shaw is regarded by many as Britain’s top male jazz singer. He turns his attention to the demanding songs of Joni Mitchell in this concert, following the recent release of his Drawn To All Things CD on Linn Records. Shaw is the latest recruit to the Eaglesham-based label’s roster of jazz vocalists, which also includes Carol Kidd, Claire Martin and Barb Jungr.
Shaw had an unusual way into jazz via the alternative cabaret circuit, where he worked alongside the likes of Julian Clary and Rory Bremner. He has worked with top jazz musicians on both sides of the Atlantic, and had a role specially created for him in Jerry Springer - The Opera in 2002. He has branched out into record producing as well, and did the honours on the latest CD from Edinburgh singer Todd Gordon. (Kenny Mathieson)
