After 20 years in showbiz - the best part of which spent as America’s most famous Marilyn Monroe impersonator - Jimmy James has arrived at the Fringe. Famed for vocal impersonations of everyone from Barbara Streisand to Bowie, here he presents his best mimicry of divas alive and dead.
Camping it up with an admittedly remarkable capacity to immaculately recreate all from Cher’s deepest rumble to Billie Holiday’s most nasal burr, there’s no denying the man has a talent. The fun, novelty value fades fast though, and there’s little lasting artistic sparkle to the routine at large. More Shirley Temple than Shirley Bassey. (Malcolm Jack)
