Office-based comedy is, thanks to Ricky Gervais, a form which relies on cringeworthy characters for laughs. This sketch show thankfully reclaims the genre for the surrealists.
Joe Thomas and Johnny Sweet’s show is bewilderingly funny from beginning to end. Each of the quickfire sketches is very cleverly written, and performed where every line reveals something more unusual, as the dysfunctional characters slip deeper into the comedy mire. It would be unfair to pick out any sketches for particular praise in a show with such consistent quality, but one scene in which a man’s, er, acquaintance with an industrial fan sums up the bizarreness of the comedy.
