Amazing Adventures of Her Majesty at 80

The only thing amazing about this show is that it ended up in the comedy section of the fringe brochure. Obviously this woman thinks because she is fiftysomething and HM is cosseted enough to undertake all her engagements as if she were also only around this age, she is the ideal ‘lookalike/soundalike’ to play her and that she will provide enough titters to engulf the four members of the audience.

One lame idea is to have a Ben Elton-style ‘Queen’ musical entitled ‘Corgi & Bess’. Sadly there are no Gershwin/Mercury showstoppers to lift it out of the Corgi crap that we find ourselves wading through. Thankfully, it’s only 45 minutes long, so while it gives a flavour of what it might have been like to be sent to the Tower, at least we are granted a free pardon at the end. (Gordy McCue)
