No high-falutin’ concepts for this guy, although he does have a built-in ‘gimmick’ that’s hard to ignore. Steve Day uses his deafness to his advantage with some socio-political material. His intelligently written jokes stray widely from the supposed theme (schooling) and a confident performance is received enthusiastically. Good, solid, bloke-down-the-pub stand-up. (Suzanne Black)
