There’s something of the Burns’ supper speech that Bruce Fummey never entirely shakes off in his retelling of the great narrative poem, but his banter engages throughout what is a valid if not vital comedy lecture. Ably battling the burr of the adjacent bar, Fummey’s crass if self-effacing delivery ultimately delivers a winning, bravura recital. (Mark Edmundson)
