Bangers and Mash
This article is from 2006.
This knockabout, upbeat, kitsch romantic farce could only have come from Australia, mate. The relatively simple scenario - a pair of flatmates (who are named Bangers and Mash) have a difficult time coming to terms with the fact that they fancy one another - is wildly overplayed so that the thing becomes a manic melodrama. There are no great revelations here, and the Scottish connection is a bit contrived, but its throwaway attitude makes it a crowd-pleaser that delivers laughs. And a priceless extended dance routine at the halfway point is on its own worth the price of admission. (Miles Fielder)
