Everyone knows the story of Tom Thumb, the boy who was perfect in every way but no longer than a thumb, who endured harrowing adventures down a mouse’s hole, inside a cow’s belly and a wolf’s paunch. But Blue Scream Theatre’s production goes one step further, taking the tiny hero out of the realm of fairytale and into the real world. The musical theatre and puppetry show poses some big questions: Was Tom really that small? Did he really have encounters with hungry giants and a jealous king, or is he just away with the fairies?

Helping drive the story along are pianist Elena Riu, with our hero being brought to life by Finn Caldwell, who may be familiar from last year’s Fringe hit Low Life. But grab your tickets while you can - like the title character, the show’s run is short, a mere ten days. (Allan Radcliffe)
