Exceedingly likeable and not above telling traditional jokes and singing conventional songs, this gangly Melbourne comic’s true talent lies in his transgressive flights of fancy. J’s opening routine concerning a ‘double cock con’ he was part of at a school and an extended aside about the significance of Kevin Costner’s archery in Robin Hood are impressive.
