Loretta Maine

The joke here is that Loretta Maine is a drunkard with emotional problems. And that’s it. Every song starts with simpering, sweet Loretta and morphs into raging bunny-boiler Loretta. An improvised ode to an audience member and a bit of light Melua-bashing are the highlights, but other than that it’s all a bit one-note. That said, one lad was heard to remark on leaving: ‘I shall marry her one day.’ Rather you than me, mate.

I agree, it is the same joke again and again, but as it's such a funny joke it really doesn't matter.

I always find it interesting to read reviews of shows I have seen after I have seen them, and I have to say that in this case you have got it very wrong. This is absolutely one of my top 3 shows at the festival this year. It is musical character comedy at it’s finest.

The laziness in the length and depth of Laura Ennor’s review clearly shows she is not of a fan of comedy let alone musical comedy. Loretta’s show combines brilliant stand-up and brilliant songs.

I would recommend that if anyone wants to read a good description of this show then read the review in the Independent, Metro or Broadway Baby.
