An off-kilter flurry of sketches with a message
Leave your preconceptions about female comedy at the door and prepare for an hour of surreal, bizarre sketches with dynamic duo Róisín O'Mahony and Chiara Goldsmith as they explore sexuality, love and female friendship. The theme of Get Nupty is the pair trying to understand what love is, and they explore this well-worn topic with a series of completely original pieces, riffing off each other as they randomly burst into song and struggle not to crack themselves up.
There are many moments of improvisation as they ad-lib and feed off the audience. The duo seem like they're having a great time together, and they flow through a series of different characters, which shows off their talents for accents, as they cycle through different, increasingly bizarre props.
Gleeful as they bounce around on stage, they've inserted a thoughtful message into the slightly absurd sketches, as they come to the realisation that love is a work in progress. Delivering a fun-filled show, Róisín and Chiara are clearly having a blast doing it together, even if the audience is left feeling a little bewildered at some of the more off-kilter gags.
Heroes @ The Hive, until 25 Aug (not 10, 20), 6.20pm, £8 (£5–£6) in advance or donations at the venue.
