Idlewild and Be Charlotte to headline North Berwick festival in partnership with The List
North Berwick arts fest Fringe by the Sea is back with another jam-packed programme of exciting acts from across the worlds of music, comedy, literature, film and more. This year, The List is proud to partner with Fringe by the Sea for a mammoth party on Fri 9 Aug. Dubbed The List by the Sea, the event will feature headline performances from List favourites Idlewild and Be Charlotte.
Since forming in 1995, Idlewild have turned from raucous cult curiosity to chart bothering national treasures. Now back with a new album Interview Music, the indie rock giants will treat the festival crowd to a live showcase of their acclaimed back catalogue as well as their brand-new material. Meanwhile, Be Charlotte has just released her brilliant new single 'Do Not Disturb', which has been doing the rounds on national radio. Known for her native accent, lyrical depth and innate knack for a melody, she takes influence from classic songwriters such as Bob Dylan and Tracy Chapman and her love of modern pop and hip-hop.
Last year's 10th anniversary edition of Fringe by the Sea saw the festival expand its offerings through a 10-day run, which featured over 100 performances and events. Highlights included Sugarhill Gang and the Furious Five, comedian Mark Steel and live conversations with Judy Murray and Ruth Davidson. This year, the festival will once again be aiming big with some excellent events already announced, and lots more to come. The 2019 programme so far includes Val McDermid, Eddie Reader, Doug Allan, Alexander McCall Smith, MALKA, James Brown Is Annie, Moishe's Bagel, Rubian and Old Blind Dogs.
