Off-season cheer and classic insults
The Fringe always feels a bit like Christmas. There's the huge build-up as everything transforms before your eyes, the blind panic that sets in over a short period of time, and the inevitable frenzy of the big event itself. It may be August, but for south Yorkshire cabaret star Myra Dubois, it's never too early for some off-season cheer.
Following a stint on tour with Drag Race winner and comedy queen Bianca del Rio, Dubois brings her razor-sharp putdowns back to the Fringe for an hour of raucous fun, but this time with a festive theme in tow. From tales of Christmases past and the complexities of LGBT acronyms to an audience-wide rendition of a beautifully scatty 'The Twelve Days of Christmas', this is an anarchic afternoon show suitable for anyone that loves their drag with a side of classic insult comedy.
The theatricality of Dubois' drag is the real pull though, with her festive anecdotes and singalongs laced with a delivery that stings and delights in equal measure. Inappropriate yet merry, vicious yet charming, We Wish You a Myra Christmas is an unexpected yuletide treat right at the height of summer.
Underbelly, George Square, until 26 Aug (not 18), 4pm, £10–£11 (£9–£10).
