Forest Fringe
Forest Fringe takes a different form in 2012 following the closure of Edinburgh's Forest Cafe building.
The Forest Fringe is truly the embodiment of what is 'on the fringe'. Once housed within The Forest Cafe, the Forest Fringe now operates independently from a specific venue throughout the rest of the year UK-wide. Having occupied various locations, Edinburgh's volunteer-run Forest Cafe cafe has been home to free workshops in a multitude of disparate activities, from world dance to independent artist exhibitions, and rehearsal and performance spaces for grass roots creative projects. During the festival this spirit of non-adherence and sometimes radical creativity is carried through in a schedule of poetry, music, art and performance that challenges the orthodox and operates entirely outside of the 'official' Fringe. Although the Forest Fringe is only five years old, there is a strong approach to the structure of the programme. Perfect for those whom are interested in the progressive and conceptual, this festival is one that knows the true meaning of 'original'.
