The Pleasance Podcast: Shaun Keaveny - The 40 Year Old Edinburgh Virgin

Bucket Lists, midlife crises, selfish self-exploratory navel-gazing exercises … call them what you will, but humans of a certain age have been embarking on what they hope to be life-changing paradigm-shifting experiences as they approach middle age since our life expectancies rose above 39. I am no exception. As the long-standing presenter of the BBC 6 Music Breakfast Show, I have interviewed more bloody comedians, musicians and wandering entertainers than I care, or am able to remember. And EVERY SINGLE YEAR come the Spring, I am subjected to a barrage of press releases telling me literally all of them are going to the Edinburgh Festival to raise hell and lose cash.
As I turned 40 this June, I want, for the first time ever in my life, to join them. I want to go to Edinburgh and immerse myself in the slights, smells, sights, tights, plights, fights, dizzy heights, and soul-crushing lows of the scene.
I want to chat to my comedic friends, chat to the locals put out by these drunken interlopers, put on my own little show too, busk on the byways and see the festival from all possible angles.
Can someone please help this 40 year old Edinburgh virgin pop his cherry??
For a limited run only, Join Shaun in his cherry popping quest as he interviews guests, tries his hand at stand up, relies on musical interludes to cover those difficult silences, and generally tries to understand what all the fuss is about.
