Oh, What a Lovely War

This listing is from a previous year.  Search for current listings.

A devastating musical satire that chronicles the horrors of the First World War. First performed in 1963, directed by the legendary Joan Littlewood, the piece retains its poignancy and relevance. Ensemble theatre in its purest form. This ironic and richly comic show is set at an ‘end of the pier’ entertainment with popular songs of the period. Using vaudevillian routines juxtaposed with the stark reality of life in the trenches and the stoic courage of the common soldiers, ‘the war game is being played all over the world, there’s a pack for all the family’. All ages.
