Five decades of paintings, drawings, watercolurs and prints to celebrate the life of one of Scotland's most intriguing painters. Much of Bellany's work is an agonised rebellion against the Calvinism instilled in him during his childhood, and his more recent work with its brighter palette and sun-filled landscapes has a hard-won sense of ease and lightness – although the portraits stare out of the canvas with the same old suspicious glare as ever. Part of Edinburgh Art Festival.
