In what has been described as 'one of the most brilliant reimaginings of the near future since cyberpunk wore out its mirror shades', Cory Doctorow's new book Makers tells a story so plausible that it's hard to tell where reality stops and science fiction begins. Set in a US in decline, his novel imagines two trashhackers who find that new technology lets them steal a march on the high-tech giants, thanks to an interactive ride through an abandoned Wal-Mart.
