A Journey Through Iranian Magham Music

Magham Ensemble explore the many music traditions represented by Iran’s diverse ethnic make-up, from the Kurdish Sahari magham to the Mazandarani Katooli, using traditional scales and creating entirely new melodic motifs to give this ancient music new life in a contemporary context. The ensemble formed in 2009 aiming to bring the magham (or modal) music of Iran to new audiences, under the leadership of renowned Iranian musician, Tinoush Bahrami.
