So looking forward to this: it's hard to put into words quite how brilliant Rrrants shows are. So much talent in so many different styles of material and performance.
It will take way too long to name and praise all acts individually, but I'm going to make one exception: The Antipoet are like nobody else I've ever seen - lyrically wonderful with a wholly unique performance style. If you are in Edinburgh, and haven't caught one of their shows, come along: you won't be disappointed. And everyone else on the bill is a bonus.
PS Thanks for the pint :-)

I saw The Antipoet as featured act at a poetry slam in Wolverhampton - they are the most entertaining thing you will see this year. If the rest of the Rrrants package is as good, this is essential!

You've got to see The Antipoet whilst you are at the Fringe. If poetry had been like this in English lessons at school I might have taken more notice. You will cry with laughter and will not fail to remember the guy with the long hair!

Whatever else you do in Edinburgh in the last week of August, don't miss the unmissable RRRANTS show at the Pear Tree, daily 20th to 28th! Ian and Paul"s inimitable blend of satire, comedy and mild filth will keep you coming back for more!
They'll have a band of like-minded souls, gathered over years of entertaining the south, including Jan and Dónall, the awesome Poetry Couple, that co-operative of two who have recently begun calling themselves the Dirty Minds Collective - enjoy the quick Irish wit of the one with the long hair and the cheeky lines and the cool English school-marm charm of his unlikely consort as they guide you through the joys and pitfalls of what has recently been called their geriatric sex-life (thank you Kit Francois, says Jan).
Ian and Paul will charm you and alarm you with their speculations on the merits of tights v stockings, their revelations about the workings of the mind of their favourite Little Old Lady, and many more old and new favourites, while Ian's affair with that double bass gets more passionate every time we see them together.
See you there!

I have been a regular at Rrrants gigs for just over 2 years now, and the quality of performers that they put on each gig never fail to impress me.
The Anti-Poet are a very unique act and they never fail to fill the room with laughter with old classics such as 'I Like Girls', 'Foxy Copper' and 'Tights Not Stockings' and with newer pieces 'We Hope It Isn't Anyone We Know', 'Hanging With Poets', 'Baby Factory' and the most unforgetable piece, one that had me singing for hours 'Random Words In A Random Order'.No matter what you do that last week in Edinburgh, you must not miss The Anti-Poet and the Rrrants collective. There will be something for everyone, with some of the best performers performers, such as; Ant Smith, Poeterry, Fay Roberts, Danni Antagonist, Philfy Phil, Jammie Sammy, Rob Auton, Vinnie Gibons, Ian Freemantle and many many more.
IT IS A MUST SEE SHOW!!!

Do NOT miss this show! Aside from sheer brilliance of spoken word artists always sharing the stage, I have yet to leave a RRRANTS gig without several parts of my body aching from laughter!!! The Antipoet alone make it worth the trip for me but knowing the quality of acts that they are bringing with them this year, I will be bringing a sleeping bag and camping outside daily! Come join me :D

This event will be an embarrassment of riches. I've seen most of the acts and there really is something for everyone. Special mentions should go to Ant Smith - it's said that he owns the devil's soul; the Anti-Poet - ascerbic lyrics delivered with a cheeky grin and a funky as f-word(!) double bass and the dark and dangerous Jammy Sammy - a wolf in sheep's clothing if ever I saw one!

Everyone should have the Rrrants experience whilst in Edinburgh. Highlights for me include the talented Victoria Laxton Bass, who's honesty and refreshingly relevant style of poetry never fails to have me moved AND in hysterics within the same performance.
Jammie Sammy is delightful on stage and her songs are as funny and clever as she is charming to watch.
Philfy Phil, the king of parody in bar chord form, is not to be missed.
The Anti Poet are quite simply unlike anything else you will see; razor sharp witty lyrics and social comment over rhythmic and sometimes rock-esque bass lines. The Antipoet performers, Paul & Ian, have a natural banter and chemistry on stage which always lends hilarity and a fresh edge to their performance. With memorable sing-along lines you will be humming for weeks, make sure you don't miss the Antipoet and the rest of the amazing Rrrants crew performing this year.

The poetic, musical, comedic genius that is The Antipoet. A little bit of naughtiness with some honest beat rant thrown in. They are the post punk rock dandies for the modern age with a double bass and a triangle! Five star performers, you will ache all over from the laughter. Highly recommend their performances.

You will seriously not want to miss this. If you have never seen a Rrrants performance before you will be stunned at the sheer chaos of it all. But its chaos that works. I've never seen a gig like it,where you can put poetry, comedy, story telling, and acoustic music all back to back without injuring anyone.
From the mesmerising imagery of Fay Roberts poetry, the genius comedy parodies of Philfy Phil, the deranged and kooky rants of Mr Robert Auton and let us not forget that this will all be tightly knitted together by the Antipoet.
Most importantly. It's free, so you have no excuse not to come.

I've been to a couple of Rrrants gigs and have been superbly entertained and inspired on both occasions. The Antipoet are VERY rock 'n' roll. Their mix of poetry, comedy and music tickles ribs, opens eyes and celebrates being human.
Then there's the rest of the Rrrants performers - a weird goody bag overflowing with a caravan of exotic talent.
I've seen them strut their stuff. Don't wait for Jimmy Savile to fix it for you. He doesn't do that sort of thing anymore. Treat yourself and go see them at Edinburgh.

The rrrants group are amazing bringing together a wide selction of poets, story tellers and comedians to put a variety of acts on at every gig, so there is something for everyone.
The Anti poet are wonderful performing their beat poetry and catchy lyrics. Victoria Laxton-Bass is a young new poet who performs brilliant pieces that connect with real life issues. Jammie Sammy will have you joining in with her songs. Poeterry the poet of love. Dodobones are a great music act.
This is naming only a few of the acts.
It should not be missed.
