Miranda tells the story of a bollywood actress who is on holiday in Goa. Here she is invited to play Miranda in a production of the Tempest done by an English troupe. The play is a love story, a ghost story and a bollywood dance act all at once, magnificently underscored by drums and a violin. The show is highly imaginative and dynamic, an interesting combination of Bollywood, classical Indian dance and Shakespeare.

Set in Goa, Miranda is a colourful feast of sex, rope tricks and modern Indian music and dance. Ankur Bahl is mesmerising!

5 Star Show...

I was at a full house of Miranda in the Assemble Rooms last night and was very impressed indeed. It has fantastic & inovative performance from the very talented and versatile actor Ankur Bahl, he play the part of a very convincing woman and is captivating in every sense! he is accompanied on stage by a world class and classically trained violinist Danyal Dhondy and a equally talented tabla player Swagat Biswas.

It start at 6pm for one hour, I would propose you buy a nice chilled glass of Pinot Grouchio from the bar and soak in Bollywood meets Shakespeare. You won't be dissapointed.

I took a chance on this after being flyered by the cast outside the assembly with the promise that the show would be "beguiling"!

It certainly was. The show is charming, with great music and a lead actor you simply can't take your eyes off.

The PR for this show doesn't do it justice. It's an involving, exotic ghost story with music and dance and is a nice interlude for the 6 pm slot. The fringe is all about seeing something a bit different, and this show certainly is.

I was also attracted by the cast busking in the street, and was not disappointed. Farrukh Dhondy's script is brilliant, at the same time clever, funny and laden with allusion, while the actor's illusions are breathtaking. The violinist is a star in his own right.
This is an unmissable show, and is not receiving the attention it deserves.
