Hot Club de Paris

XTC-inspired witty, start/stop, indie pop magic

They’ve been a little quiet of late but that is not to say this talented Liverpudlian trio haven’t been getting up to any mischief. Hot Club de Paris spent the summer writing and recording the follow-up to impressive debut ‘Drop It Til It Pops’, venturing out only for this one-off Festival appearance.

Live, the band are known for their frenzied performances, zipping around the stage full-pelt while unleashing an intense mix of razor sharp riffs and spiky rhythms, and even the occasional acapella number complete with precise harmonies and quirky lyrics. Expect a healthy smattering of new material at this show, alongside firm fan favourites such as ‘Everyeveryeverything’ and the ridiculously titled ‘Sometimesitsbetternottostickiotsof eachotherineachotherforeachother’. Exciting stuff but try saying either of them out loud after a few shandies and you’re bound to come a cropper . . . (Camilla Pia)
