Les Chansons d’Amour
Bizarre ménage à trois musical
Teacher, novelist, playwright, children’s book author and now filmmaker, Christophe Honoré is fast becoming the name to drop on the world film festival circuit. His last two films – incest drama Ma Mere and playful Nouvelle Vague-ish comedy drama Dans Paris have divided audiences. His latest work, his first musical, starring rising French stars Louis Garrel and Ludivine Sagnier, has already drawn comparisons with Jacques Demy’s garish, groundbreaking 1964 musical Umbrellas of Cherbourg. Prepare to smile . . . or cringe.
Filmhouse, 623 8030, 18 Aug, 9.30pm & 19 Aug, 5.20pm, both £7.95 (£5.50).
