Parodic retro-kitsch with utterly unfunny script and weary cast
A parodic retro-kitsch adventure in which a twee sibling pop duo are kidnapped by an evil alien overlord and forced to perform radio plays on his intergalactic frequency could work, but here it doesn’t. More foot in mouth than tongue in cheek, the cast of four look weary and barely in on the joke, but the main culprit is an utterly unfunny script.
Spotlites @ The Merchants’ Hall, 220 5911, until 29 Aug, 7.40pm, £9.50 (£8.50).

I also saw this show last night when your reviewer did. Don't think she was present in the same theatre as me; the show was great. The audience begged for more and called the cast back onstage at the curtaincall for an encore. It's obviously all gone right over your lass' head! This was a 5 star OUTSTANDING really clever show. Funny entertaining sci-fi cult musical. What did she see instead?!?
