Deca Dance 2008

Whenever you read about Batsheva Dance Company, a few key words come up time and again; adjectives like ‘exuberant’, ‘joyful’ and ‘energetic’. This is thanks, in large part, to their choreographer Ohad Naharin. Drawing together short sections from ten Naharin works, dating from 1984 to present day, Deca Dance 2008 will give audiences a real flavour of the Israeli choreographer’s style. Intelligent yet accessible, these large ensemble works are renowned for their ability to move and excite. Set to a diverse soundtrack featuring everything from hip hop and classical to Arabian folk, this showcases Naharin’s clearly eclectic taste in music.

Edinburgh Playhouse, 473 2000, 28–30 Aug, 8pm, £8–£28.
